St Vincent de Paul Society
St Vincent de Paul Society

This compassionate outlook, enthusiasm and vision continues today in Australia. There are thousands of people who every day share their time, care for humanity and energy to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged people all around Australia. Indeed, for many in our community it is the “face of the Church” providing non judgmental assistance.
The central body of any Vinnies branch is the "Conference” – a group of Catholics dedicated to the ideals and work of the Society. Within our Jubilee Parish there are four branches or “conferences” of the St Vincent de Paul Society – Ashgrove, Bardon, Red Hill/Rosalie and Newmarket/Herston. Usually the conference meets once a fortnight for prayer, spiritual formation and review of the activities of the past fortnight.
If you would like to discover more about the work and ministry of our local Vinnies conferences simply ask any member.
If you are in need of assistance please don’t hesitate to contact the Emergency Hotline on: 3010 1096.
Vinnies Shops
Financial support of our local St Vincent de Paul conferences comes though the poor boxes located at the entrances of all our churches, the annual winter and Christmas appeals and also through the Vinnies shops. Vinnies is your number one destination for affordable and pre-loved items. Everything you buy or donate inspires change in our local community.
Please support our two local Vinnies shops located at:
- 16 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064
- 2/53 Douglas Street, Milton QLD 4064

Jubilee Head Start
Jubilee Head Start

As a Catholic parish, our solution is the Jubilee Head Start. In 1942, newly married Jim and Phyllis Quinn built their home in Paddington and quickly became part of our community. Jim died in 2002 and, in March 2008, we celebrated the funeral rites of Phyllis at St Mary Magdalene’s church, Bardon. The Quinns generously bequeathed their home to our Jubilee Parish.
The Quinns’ generosity allows our Parish to creatively and constructively use our resources to help one young Catholic family to at least get a head start.
This is our attempt, as a Parish family, to assist a young couple to get a positive start at the beginning of their marriage. Basically, we will rent the Quinn house to a young couple for a maximum of 2 years. During that time they will be encouraged to save. At the end of this time we will refund their rent which, along with the money they have been saving, should go towards providing a deposit on their own first home. All we ask is that they be involved in the life of our Jubilee Parish.
Naturally we would be entering into a formal agreement and the conditions of the lease would be clearly outlined. This initiative of your Jubilee Catholic Parish is designed specifically to help a young married couple in their attempt to buy their first home and get established. It is also meant to be a positive experience of Church for them. If you think you might be eligible or know someone who might, you are invited to contact the Jubilee Head Start Committee via the Parish Office 3324 3985.

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Communion

Communion ministers need to have respect for people and for the Eucharist, show a caring approach inside and outside the liturgy, be comfortable making contact with people with eyes, words and hands and be willing to serve others.
If you are interested in becoming an Extraordinary Minister of Communion, please feel free to approach any member of your Local Group, Liturgical Minister or any of our Priests.
Communion to the Housebound and to Nursing Homes
Communion to the Housebound and to Nursing Homes
As Catholics, receiving the sacraments is an important part of our faith journey. There are times, because of illness or incapacity, when we cannot make it to Sunday Mass and a member of this small, dedicated group of Eucharistic Ministers would be delighted to visit your home to ensure you can receive Holy Communion.
If you need to receive Holy Communion or know someone who does please make contact with any Extraordinary Minister of Communion in your community or contact the Parish Office (3324 3985).
